AFRRICUFF 2023 Submission Eligibility Criteria

Early bird submissions: ($30)

15th May, 2023- 30th July, 2023

Late submission ($50)

1st August, 2023- 31th August, 2023.

  1. The deadline for submissions is the 30th of July 2023. The late entry deadline is the 31st of August 2023.
  2. Nominations will be announced on the 25th of October 2023, and Only films produced and released between January 2022 and the 20th of August 2023 may be submitted.

To make a submission for the 2023 entry, you must provide all the supporting materials mentioned in the Filmfreeway submission forms along with the supported materials. These materials include;

  • A film synopsis
  • A list of credits,
  • Marketing stills, etc. of the film.

It’s important to note that you need to have full copyright ownership of the submitted work.

It is necessary for all films to clearly display the year of copyright. Any film exceeding 120 minutes in duration will not be accepted by Affricuff as a feature film, and any short film with a duration longer than 30 minutes will also be rejected.

Award

Affricuff awards two major categories each of short indigenous, narrative, and documentaries films, as well as mobile and student shorts. The festival also awards the category for Best African cultural film.

Feature African Cultural Film in the Diaspora and Best Short African Cultural Films in the Diaspora will also be awarded. The first edition of the African Cultural Film Festival will be held from the 7th to the 10th of December 2023 in Houston, Texas. All virtual attendees who are not opportune to attend shall connect live.
