Job Title: Litigation Counsel – Subrogation

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Litigation Counsel to support and guide outside counsel in the evaluation, strategy, and pursuit of subrogation claims. This position reports directly to the Head of Claims and plays a key role in managing third-party recovery efforts. The ideal candidate will work closely with external legal partners to conduct in-depth legal and factual analysis, identify viable recovery opportunities, and drive claims toward resolution.

Key Responsibilities:

• Partner with outside counsel to evaluate, strategize, and prosecute subrogation claims.
• Conduct thorough legal research, factual investigations, and due diligence to support recovery efforts.
• Engage in direct negotiations with adverse parties, opposing counsel, and liability carriers.
• Interview witnesses and collaborate with retained experts and consultants.
• Provide ongoing communication and strategic input to the Head of Claims and internal teams.
• Monitor and manage a high volume of open matters with efficiency and precision.
• Think creatively to develop innovative approaches to maximize recoveries and resolve obstacles.

Qualifications:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
• Minimum of 5 years of litigation experience, either in-house or at a law firm.
• Demonstrated proficiency in oral and written advocacy, legal analysis, and negotiation.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
• Excellent problem-solving capabilities and a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.
• Clear, confident communication and collaboration skills across internal and external stakeholders.
• Experience in insurance or subrogation is preferred but not required.
